RunFreeTools is built around a simple principle: the files you work with are yours, and they should stay on your device. This page explains exactly what that means.

Most files are processed locally

The large majority of tools — compressing images, editing PDFs, removing backgrounds, generating QR codes, calculators and so on — run entirely inside your web browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. For those, the files you drop in are never uploaded to our servers, because there is no upload step at all. When you close the tab, anything you were working on is gone.

A small number of tools need a server: AI features (run on Cloudflare Workers AI) and some heavy document conversions (for example DOCX or EPUB). For those, your input is sent securely over HTTPS, used only to produce your result, and deleted right after — never stored or shared. Each tool's page tells you which kind it is.

What we do collect

• Account information. If you choose to create an account, we store your name, email address and a securely hashed password so you can sign in. That's it.
• Basic analytics. We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (such as which tools are popular) to improve the site. This never includes the contents of your files.

Credits & fair-use protection

Only AI tools use credits — basic (non-AI) tools are always free and never consume credits. To track the free AI allowance for signed-out visitors, we store a random anonymous id in your browser (a cookie). We do not use device fingerprinting; this id isn't linked to your real identity and is never used for advertising or cross-site tracking. Clearing your browser storage simply starts a fresh allowance.

AI tools

Our AI tools run on Cloudflare Workers AI. When you use one, the text or file you submit is sent to Cloudflare for processing and returned to you. It is used only to generate your result and is not stored by us. Client-side tools (image, PDF, calculators, etc.) never leave your browser at all.

Payments

Paid plans are processed by our payment provider, Polar. We never see or store your full card details — those are handled securely by Polar. We only store your plan and credit balance. See our Refund Policy for billing questions.

Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies: one to keep you signed in (if you have an account) and one holding your anonymous device id for credits. We also use third-party advertising cookies — see Advertising below.

Advertising

We display ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, and may collect information such as your IP address, device, and browsing activity to show relevant ads and measure their performance.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ad Settings or disable third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info. In the EEA and UK, ads are personalized only after you consent via our cookie banner — you can decline and still use the site. See Google's advertising policies for more.

Third-party models

Some advanced tools (like the background remover) download an AI model to your browser the first time you use them. The model files are fetched from a public CDN, but your images are processed locally and are not sent anywhere.
