How is GPA calculated?
Multiply each course's grade points by its credits, add those up, then divide by the total credits. This tool does it for you on the 4.0 scale.
What are the grade points?
On the standard scale A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, F = 0, with +/- steps of 0.3 (A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, …).
Does every school use the same scale?
Most US schools use the 4.0 scale, but some weight honors/AP courses differently — check your institution's exact points.
